Quick Answers
You do not need prior experience to drive a snowmobile. Each trip begins with a rider’s safety talk on how to operate the machines, riding techniques, and trail etiquette.
ALL DRIVERS MUST CARRY A VALID DRIVERS LICENCE WHILE ON THE TRAILS. The Forest Service patrols the trails just like the highways.
Tour reservations must be made and accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license that is over 21 years old.
The driver of each snowmobile must be at least 16 years old with a valid driver’s license and weigh at least 100 lbs. Minors are not allowed to drive.
In order to have a passenger on board drivers must be at least 18 years old.
Passengers must be at least 8 years old 48″ in height. NO EXCEPTIONS!
Recommended weight limit on a double seat machine is 350 lbs. and drivers will need to weigh more than the passenger. If there is too much weight on the machines, the shocks will be absorbed and it will be very bumpy and uncomfortable for the person riding on the back. It can also cause additional wear and damage to the machines.
Anyone who is pregnant or has heart, neck, or back problems is not encouraged to participate.
Cell phone use while machine is moving and in operation is strictly forbidden.
All participants are required to complete a participant agreement form. All minors will need to have a parent or legal guardian sign their participant agreement form. Participant agreements will be emailed with the trip confirmation and are available at check-in.
You must arrive at our shop in Government Camp at least 60 MINUTES PRIOR TO YOUR DEPARTURE TIME in order to retrieve helmets, clothing and shoe inspection, and ensure you have directions to the Skyline Sno-Park 12 miles away. You will need a snow worthy vehicle to make it to our shop 60 minutes prior to your reservation and then to the Snopark. Please do not take a bus or get dropped off at Mt. Hood Outfitters only. Trip times (1 and half hour or 3 hour) denotes the actual time on the trail. A LATE ARRIVAL TIME MAY CUT INTO YOUR RIDING TIME OR RESULT IN A CANCELLATION WITHOUT A REFUND.
Mt Hood Outfitters is located in Government Camp and the city and all Sno-Parks are maintained by ODOT. Parking is available, but ALL VEHICLES ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE A SNO-PARK PERMIT WHEN PARKING IN GOVERNMENT CAMP OR THE SKYLINE SNOPARK. If you don’t already have a permit, we do sell daily passes at the sno-park for $7 and annuals for $30 in our shop.
We Are In A Snow-Zone And You Must Carry Chains Or Have Studded Winter Tires. You will need a snow worthy vehicle to make it to our shop 60 minutes prior to your reservation and then to the Snopark. Please do not take a bus or get dropped off at Mt. Hood Outfitters only.
Consider Your Travel Time: Mountain Passes See The Highest Number Of Vehicles During The Winter Break And On Weekends.

You will want to dress for a day on the snow, just like you were going skiing or snowboarding. We recommend water resistant/water proof coat, pant, boots, and gloves. If you do not have the proper gear, we do have limited supplies of boots and outerwear items at our shop. We do not rent gloves but we have gloves for sale.
We provide helmets for all trips. If you have your own helmet that you prefer to wear, it must be one that is approved by the Department of Transportation (DOT). You cannot wear a ski or bike helmet while snowmobiling.
Cell phone use while machine is moving and in operation is strictly forbidden.
No charges will be seen on your card unless you cause damage to the machine. Prior to departure and upon return, you will inspect the machines just like you would a car rental. You will be responsible for any and all damages to the machines while they are in your care. Other charges may also include late fees, recovery fees, and revenue lost from existing bookings, which are impacted due to a machine being down for repairs.
Otherwise, gratuity is not included in the price of the trip. It is never expected, but always appreciated by your guide.

Hood Outfitter’s activities are conducted regardless of weather conditions, except in extreme circumstances. If Mt Hood Outfitters have to cancel for any reason, you will receive a full refund.
